Transcript of the video

  • [00:00.000 – 00:04.920] Hello my friends, today I'm in Bad Liebenzell. Unfortunately, the weather is quite shitty
  • [00:04.920 – 00:10.200] at the moment, and I have to deal with quite a lot of rain, but I still want to make the
  • [00:10.200 – 00:15.640] best out of the situation, so I hope I can record a halfway interesting and enjoyable
  • [00:15.640 – 00:19.440] video and that I am able to take a couple of pictures for the blog.
  • [00:19.440 – 00:25.520] Okay, let's start the exploration of Bad Liebenzell.
  • [00:25.520 – 00:31.480] Here we have the first sign about some historical information.
  • [00:31.480 – 00:37.440] As always, if you can speak German, feel free to pause the video.
  • [00:37.440 – 00:40.440] But yeah, let's see how it goes.
  • [00:40.440 – 00:45.040] The rain is not getting stronger. I'm using an umbrella, I know.
  • [00:45.040 – 00:49.440] Not really the most stylish approach to tackle the weather.
  • [00:49.440 – 00:55.440] I think it wouldn't harm if they clean their signs once in a while.
  • [00:55.440 – 00:59.680] Okay my friends, I am in the center of Bad Liebenzell at the moment.
  • [00:59.680 – 01:06.300] It's actually a cute village, to be fully honest, with a little bit of sunshine and less rain.
  • [01:06.300 – 01:11.480] The whole experience would have been already way more enjoyable, but on the other side,
  • [01:11.480 – 01:16.480] I don't mind the bad weather too much at the moment, because after the heatwave we had
  • [01:16.480 – 01:25.920] in Germany, I'm not that unhappy, to be honest, to have a few cooler days, and it's not cold
  • [01:25.920 – 01:31.480] or anything by any means. I'm still wearing shorts, so it's fine.
  • [01:31.480 – 01:35.760] But yeah, it's actually a nice little place.
  • [01:35.760 – 01:40.640] Okay, I'm still walking through Bad Liebenzell.
  • [01:40.640 – 01:50.920] Unfortunately, it's getting quite noisy at the moment, and the reason why I'm just walking
  • [01:50.920 – 01:54.800] up the hill is I wanted to see if I can enter the church.
  • [01:54.800 – 02:01.880] I know from the outside it looks, I would say, still quite nice, but I'm curious if
  • [02:01.880 – 02:05.240] the inside is any better.
  • [02:05.240 – 02:12.320] But some of those old churches can be a really hidden gem, sometimes just a huge disappointment.
  • [02:12.320 – 02:19.440] But let's see how it goes, and we have to cross the street again.
  • [02:19.440 – 02:23.320] To be fair, in the beginning the rain was not too bad, but now it's getting a little
  • [02:23.320 – 02:27.480] bit annoying.
  • [02:27.480 – 02:34.880] To be fair, I didn't think that this little village can be that busy, but I just spotted
  • [02:34.880 – 02:38.280] something around the corner.
  • [02:38.280 – 02:40.080] I will show it to you later.
  • [02:40.080 – 02:45.080] It looks like there could be a castle on the hill, on the top of the hill.
  • [02:45.080 – 02:48.760] But yeah, I mean, it looks nice.
  • [02:48.760 – 02:50.760] Let's see if it's open.
  • [02:50.760 – 02:57.280] Okay, we are now in front of the church, and actually it looks way better when you stand
  • [02:57.280 – 03:01.760] in front of the church directly, because, yeah, I really like the look of the stones and everything.
  • [03:01.760 – 03:08.600] Here we have a bunch of nice, or a couple of nice, memorial stones or tombstones, whatever
  • [03:08.600 – 03:11.600] you want to call them.
  • [03:11.600 – 03:17.280] I guess this is the more modern part of the cemetery that is attached directly to the
  • [03:17.280 – 03:18.280] church.
  • [03:18.280 – 03:22.080] What do we have here?
  • [03:22.080 – 03:27.560] Let's read the sign.
  • [03:27.560 – 03:31.760] And as always, if you can read German, feel free to pause the video.
  • [03:31.760 – 03:38.560] Yeah, okay, that wasn't really interesting for me, but anyway, and have a look.
  • [03:38.560 – 03:42.600] You can see the Black Forest all around us.
  • [03:42.600 – 03:44.800] It looks so beautiful and majestic.
  • [03:44.800 – 03:49.880] Yeah, I was right, because this is the modern part of the cemetery.
  • [03:49.880 – 03:54.680] But yeah, it's still a nice place.
  • [03:54.680 – 03:58.680] I'm jealous of the people who live next to the cemetery.
  • [03:58.680 – 04:02.040] That must be a nice and spooky feeling at night.
  • [04:02.040 – 04:03.040] Obviously I'm joking.
  • [04:03.040 – 04:09.640] Ooh, the modern building in the background ruins a little bit the atmosphere.
  • [04:09.640 – 04:12.880] But yeah, from this side, the church looks way more interesting, I have to say.
  • [04:12.880 – 04:14.880] It's a really beautiful building.
  • [04:14.880 – 04:19.880] Okay, my friends, I'm not alone in the church, so we try to be quiet.
  • [04:20.880 – 04:27.880] But I still wanted to give you a little bit of an impression from the inside.
  • [04:27.880 – 04:32.880] Because it's quite a beautiful building.
  • [04:32.880 – 04:37.880] But yeah, so it was most coming.
  • [04:37.880 – 04:42.880] Whatever this has to do with the church.
  • [04:43.880 – 04:50.880] Since they have lights attached in front of the windows,
  • [04:50.880 – 04:54.880] there must be a beautiful view outside at night.
  • [04:56.880 – 04:59.880] Okay, I'm just walking around this little...
  • [04:59.880 – 05:04.880] I don't want to call it a lake, it's probably a pond or not.
  • [05:04.880 – 05:08.880] Let's say, let's walk around the waterhole.
  • [05:08.880 – 05:11.880] I mean, it must be nice when you live here, imagine.
  • [05:11.880 – 05:16.880] You have a nice view, historical buildings, you're surrounded by the Black Forest.
  • [05:16.880 – 05:22.880] I mean, it can, or it can't, get hardly any better, at least not from my point of view.
  • [05:22.880 – 05:24.880] And it must be quite peaceful.
  • [05:24.880 – 05:32.880] Compare this to a modern western town with all the issues that come along
  • [05:32.880 – 05:39.880] when a lot of people live together in a very confined space, basically.
  • [05:39.880 – 05:42.880] There we have a nice car.
  • [05:42.880 – 05:48.880] I mean, the village has a lot of hotels and restaurants.
  • [05:48.880 – 05:55.880] That's related to the history of the place, because it used to be basically a resource
  • [05:55.880 – 06:04.880] for people who recovered from certain injuries and illnesses and so on.
  • [06:04.880 – 06:07.880] But yeah, it's a beautiful view.
  • [06:07.880 – 06:09.880] Here we have a playground.
  • [06:13.880 – 06:16.880] Okay, that device looks like fun.
  • [06:18.880 – 06:23.880] Okay, to change the subject, I'm going back to the car,
  • [06:23.880 – 06:26.880] and I hope I can show you guys the castle.
  • [06:26.880 – 06:28.880] Wait, can you see it from here?
  • [06:28.880 – 06:30.880] No, obviously not.
  • [06:30.880 – 06:33.880] Fucking great. Oh no, I was telling bullshit.
  • [06:33.880 – 06:36.880] It's this building up there.
  • [06:36.880 – 06:40.880] Okay, my friends, I reached the top of the hill.
  • [06:40.880 – 06:47.880] I couldn't drive here all the way up, so I still had to walk quite a bit, but that's fine.
  • [06:47.880 – 06:52.880] But yeah, it's a really fantastic view over Bad Liebenzell.
  • [06:52.880 – 06:56.880] I mean, we're still lower than the tree line in front of us.
  • [06:58.880 – 07:04.880] Okay, this is more of a simple-looking castle.
  • [07:04.880 – 07:08.880] There's another one that looks similar.
  • [07:08.880 – 07:14.880] It's part of Altensteig.
  • [07:14.880 – 07:19.880] And it has a very similar backside.
  • [07:19.880 – 07:23.880] I mean, I guess for defense purposes, it's probably perfect.
  • [07:23.880 – 07:26.880] There's not really a door you can breach.
  • [07:26.880 – 07:31.880] You can shoot out of the little windows or through rocks or something.
  • [07:31.880 – 07:34.880] Okay, that looks actually quite cute.
  • [07:34.880 – 07:40.880] Okay, my friends, this is a really beautiful view over the village.
  • [07:40.880 – 07:43.880] And I love how the Black Forest looks from here.
  • [07:43.880 – 07:49.880] And at a distance, you can see there's a little bit of mist or fog hanging over the tree line.
  • [07:49.880 – 07:53.880] Unfortunately, the place is private property.
  • [07:53.880 – 07:58.880] I mean, most castles are, but most of them are also open for visitors.
  • [07:58.880 – 08:06.880] But they already had quite a nasty sign on the way up here to inform people
  • [08:06.880 – 08:13.880] that there is no place to eat around here and that everything is closed until further notice.
  • [08:13.880 – 08:18.880] I'm wondering if I would already start trespassing if I'm walking here.
  • [08:18.880 – 08:21.880] I hope I don't.
  • [08:21.880 – 08:25.880] I know there's a bench. It should be fine.
  • [08:25.880 – 08:33.880] We have another really nice overview over the village.
  • [08:33.880 – 08:37.880] Okay, my friends, that's it basically for today.
  • [08:37.880 – 08:44.880] I'm going back to the car, and maybe I will make a quick stop somewhere else. Otherwise, overnight.
  • [08:44.880 – 08:50.880] I know it's noisy as hell, but I can't avoid the noise at the moment.
  • [08:50.880 – 08:55.880] This should just serve as a simple example for some of you
  • [08:55.880 – 08:59.880] that it makes sense to be prepared to serve the situation,
  • [08:59.880 – 09:06.880] and that this has nothing to do with a weird or strange concept of a bunch of tinfoil heads.
  • [09:06.880 – 09:09.880] It's actually needed sometimes.
  • [09:09.880 – 09:15.880] And such a little device costs nothing, but when you're in the middle of nowhere, it can actually help you a lot.
